Bahrain, a group of 33 islands, with an area of 707 km2, is situated in the Arabian Gulf, off the east cost of Saudi Arabia. The name Bahrain is derived from two Arabic words “Thnain Bahr”, meaning “Two Seas” and refers to the phenomenon of sweet water springs under the sea which mingle with the salty water.
